I was born and raised in San Anselmo, California. I studied Visual and Performing Arts throughout my education at Drake High School in San Anselmo and later at the College of Marin (COM) in Kentfield, California. Realizing my interest and talent in the precise rendering of human faces, I soon focused my college career on Visual Fine Arts.
I developed a rich passion for art and a desire to share my knowledge with others. I currently work through Youth in Arts in San Rafael as a Mentor/Teaching Artist for in-school and after-school programs, working with general ed and special day students from kindergarten through high school.
My paintings, drawings, and sculptures have been in many shows and competitions and have won several awards. For over fourteen years, I have regularly participated in the Italian Street Painting Festival in San Rafael/Marin County and other counties across the Bay Area. I currently work as an independent Muralist, Portrait Artist, and Teaching Artist and will continue to happily share my passion and artwork with the community.
I work in various media as well as mixed media. My favorite media to work with are oil, acrylic, graphite, and charcoal.
I had previously studied traditional techniques of Fine Art under choice mentors and professors at COM who introduced me to new media such as oil paint, acrylic paint, fresco, encaustic, gouache, egg tempera, clay-sculpting, and stone-carving.
I've always been intrigued by faces. At a young age, I began practicing drawing self-portraits from a mirror. I've always been intrigued by faces. At a young age, I began practicing drawing self-portraits from a mirror. It allowed me the time and privacy to explore all the details and features that make up a human face. Once I developed an understanding of my face, I was able to turn my focus to portraits of my family and friends.
I continue to create my artwork which often reflects my personal experiences or memories, as well as fulfill commissions for clients, such as large murals and portraits of pets and people.
Most of my artwork is inspired by photographs, either that I have arranged and taken, were from my family's collection, or were given permission by the photographer.
